Portfolio for the 2014-2015 Year in Art

Portfolio for the 2014-2015 Year in Art



1.  Fold one of the poster papers in the office hamburger style leaving about a sharpie length at the top. 





2. Staple the sides (about 5 staples each side)





3.  Glue their name (cut the letters out in the office- or have them trace a couple)




4.  decorate the portfolio with all their favorite things.  Color with markers or color pencils. Color front and back.

Medium: Crayons and Tempera Paint
Reason for Lesson:   Create an Andy Warhol inspired art piece, while enforce the warm/cool color concept
Preparation: 10 minutes to cut background paper
Class time:  30 Minutes
Materials:  1 9x12 white piece of paper for each student. Black paint. Cut out triangles 8 for each student 4 warm colors 4 cool colors. Glue sticks 
Instructions to Lead Lesson:
Review the Andy Warhol Style of ArtIntroduce Andy Warhol- August 6, 1928 – February 22, 1987) was an American artist who was a leading figure in the visual art movement known as pop art. Warhol's art encompassed many forms of media, including hand drawing, painting, printmaking, photography, silk screening, sculpture, film, and music. He was also a pioneer in computer-generated art using Amiga 

Some of his work:


Discuss warm and cool colors. Warm colors are colors in a fire-Orange, red, pink and yellow. Cool colors are in a lake-blue, purple, green and teal. 

Directions for Lesson: 

1.  Have each student fold paper in half Hamburger way and hotdog creating two lines on their paper. 



2. Take one section of the paper and have the kids coat it with the glue stick.



3.  Take one piece of warm color paper and one cool piece of paper. Match them up and stick them to the glue. 



4.  Repeat with the rest of the paper.


5.  Next with have adult paint hand in black and put one hand print in each section.




6.  Repeat

Medium: Tempera Paint and Markers
Reason for Lesson:   Create an Andy Warhol inspired art piece, while enforce the warm/cool color concept
Preparation: 20 minutes to cut hawks and prep paint trays
Class time:  1 hour
Materials:  1 9x12 sheet of white paper per student. Paint in warm and cool colors. Markers in warm and cool colors. Hawk cut outs. Cups for water, paper towels, paper plates, paint brushes.

The project:  
1. Directions; fold paper in half hotdog style and again in hamburger style. Creating 2 lines on your paper. 

2. Trace the hawk cutout in each box

3. Color in each hawk with two of the hawks being warm colors and two being cool colors. 
Remind the kids what warm and cool colors are. Use sharpies. 


4.  Paint each background of the hawk with a opposite color. If the student did a cool color hawk, the background will be warm and vice versa. 

Take your time and go slow. Use small amounts of paint so it will dry faster. 

5.  If time at end retrace the Hawks with a black sharpie if all paint is dry.
